About Us.
Seth and Taylor.
Two souls with the same goal – to see it all.
We met in 2019 in the beautiful state of North Carolina. Like most others, our relationship started with the simple “No way? I do that for fun too!”
Some would say a road trip of that size just a few months after meeting and a month into a new relationship isn’t a good idea. And, maybe it’s not for some people. All we know is that we left Omaha that year so excited for all of the adventure to come.
Fast forward a few years…
We had spent our free time hiking, kayaking, biking, and anything else that would push us outdoors.
Our focus, up until 2021, was exploring the nearby Appalachian Mountains and making the most of each weekend excursion. But with every adventure, we were looking for more and in May 2021, we took delivery of our first camper.
First hike together in the winter of 2019. The trees were bare and it was cold but after finally finding somebody to hike with, neither of us could wait to get outside.
As you’ll continue to learn the more you follow along on our journey, we have ridiculously similar backgrounds, hobbies, interests, and goals. We don’t exaggerate when we say we are almost the same person.
Good thing or bad?
That’s still to be determined…
Where our travel story started…
We went on our first trip together just 1 month after meeting — back to our home state of Nebraska, where we spent Christmas with Seth’s family. A 19 hour roadtrip and a week staying with family was really going to put our new relationship to the test.
Exploring The Old Market in downtown Omaha - Christmas 2019
Christmas pictures in downtown Papillion, NE
We made an overnight stop in Nashville, TN where we explored the city and couldn’t have had a better first trip together. It truly was what kickstarted our travels as a couple.
Visit to Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo
We were in Omaha to visit family and anyone familiar with the areas knows there’s not much excitement, but that didn’t stop us from making it a trip to remember.
Seth arranged for us to take a scenic flight over his hometown with a family friend.
Tour of Nelson Green Brier Distillery in Nashville, TN
First time in an experimental plane. We each had about 20 minutes of flight time and lots of adrenaline flowing.
Our current travel style…
Today, we travel in Four Wheel Camper’s Hawk model truck camper.
Each trip is centered around exploring more backcountry and less cities. We hike as much as possible, explore off road routes, visit National Parks, and have recently started backpacking.
Days after the install of the Hawk Four Wheel Camper, ready to spend our first night testing the new rig.
We both work full-time and make the most of our PTO and weekends.
We started Dropped Pins to document our journey for friends and family and to show you that traveling while working full-time is possible and to hopefully inspire you to get out and see as much as possible!
Enjoying our morning coffee in Wyoming’s backcountry in the summer of 2022.
We’ve learned many lessons, experienced the good parts of travel and the bad (for lack of better word), and found ourselves wanting to return to almost every place because there’s just not enough time to see it all.
Most importantly, everywhere we go we find a charm that sticks and keeps our craving for travel alive.
Continue to follow along with us as we share details of all of our travels and next time you have the opportunity to pack a bag and go somewhere, don’t pass it up!
Seth
I was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska and spent a few years living in Oklahoma and Florida. The distinct lack of elevation ultimately led me to explore the (somewhat) nearby Rocky Mountains. I loved nothing more than hiking to the tops of the nearest mountain for a view I couldn’t get anywhere else.
Today, I look to more than just the peaks. Waterfalls and rivers have become some of my favorites thanks, in part, to many long photography road trips with my cousin. Along the way I also learned to appreciate the flexibility and freedom of truck and van camping. It is what ultimately led to the way I travel today.
I was born in La Jolla, California, but I call Nebraska home. Raised in a rural Midwest town, I learned all about what it was like to live in what seemingly felt like the middle of nowhere.
It was after a painful family move to the valley of Western North Carolina that I realized the overwhelming similarity all small towns carry – many of those born and raised have no desire to leave. I quickly saw the beauty in a way that many hometown natives so graciously overlook, and I realized that I, myself, was a victim of missing the simple beauty my own hometown carried. It was then that I knew I wanted to travel, simply realizing this world is beautiful and it deserves to be seen.
